As soulful beings in a physical world, continuity with spirit or connection to source (or however you choose to frame it) is our lifeline to an elegant inner life. Picture your life as a garden: A beautifully tended garden is a glorious creation where the power of human aspiration coxes nature into harmonious partnership, enhancing that which is already naturally magnificent. The parallels are interesting: Both provide us with extremely hard but deeply rewarding work. It’s not always possible to have the ideal spot for the garden or have the ideal situation in life but the design of both is a choice.
How we choose and tend the seeds and plants decides what flourishes and what withers. In our lives, the choices we make and the quality of our attention determines whether we merely survive or elegantly thrive. And we need powerful tools to create beauty. Elegant aspirations are the spades, clippers and trowels in the potting shed of life. Fortunately we are supplied with an abundance of them for they are the conduits that strengthen and sustain our bond with spirit. The choice of which ones to use, how well to use them and what to create is blessedly always available to us.
